What is Accreditation?

Accreditation is a private, voluntary, non-governmental peer-review process that reviews the educational quality of an institution or program. Accreditation is the primary means of assuring educational quality. Accreditation status confirms that an institution has voluntarily undergone a comprehensive self-study and peer examination that demonstrates the institution meets standards of accreditation. To receive accreditation, the institution must clearly demonstrate that it has established educational goals; offers formal, organized learning experiences and services that enable students to meet these stated goals; and that students and graduates have benefited from the learning experiences provided. Furthermore, accreditation assures that an institution operates on a sound financial basis, has approved programs of study, qualified instructors, adequate facilities and equipment, ethical recruitment, and admission policies, engages in continual improvement through self-evaluation and planning, and promotes its programs truthfully.

What does EQAC accreditation eligibility mean?

The Education Quality Accreditation Commission (EQAC) is a European accrediting agency. University Road has applied for Eligibility to become accredited by their commission. EQAC reviewed UR’s eligibility application and determined that the institution is eligible to proceed with an Application for Accreditation.

As of July 12, 2021, IAU is recognized by the California State Approving Agency for Veterans Education (CSAAVE) and identified as eligible for the payment of education benefits associated with the GI Bill® by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). As an accredited institution

IAU is currently listed on the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) database of institutions accredited by recognized U.S. accrediting organizations. TRACS is a CHEA-recognized accrediting organization. To be “recognized” means that the accreditors in the database have been reviewed by CHEA or U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and meet the quality standards of the respective organizations.

IAU is listed on the Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (DAPIP). The accreditation database is brought to you by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE). DAPIP contains information reported to the U.S. Department of Education directly by recognized accrediting agencies and state approval agencies. The database reflects additional information as it is received from recognized accrediting agencies and state approval agencies.

IAU’s approval to operate as a private postsecondary educational institution in the State of California is based on provisions of the California Private Postsecondary Education Act (CPPEA) of 2009, which was effective January 1, 2010. The Act is administered by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education. Approval to operate means compliance with state standards as set forth in this chapter. The Bureau does not endorse IAU’s programs nor does Bureau approval mean that IAU exceeds minimum standards. IAU is currently Approved by the BPPE.

In March 2009 IAU received SEVP Certification. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) delegated the school certification process to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and ICE assigned this responsibility to its SEVP. SEVP Certification allows institutions to issue Forms I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status,” to prospective international students after admitting them for a course of study.
