Code of Conduct

At IAU Bangladesh Campus, all students, faculty members, and administrative staff are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect. Members of the IAU Bangladesh Campus community are responsible for understanding and complying with the academic policies, institutional regulations, and applicable laws of Bangladesh, as well as the academic policies and standards of International American University (IAU) where applicable.

The Code of Conduct outlines the principles and expectations that help maintain a safe, inclusive, respectful, and productive learning environment. Violations of these standards may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the policies of IAU Bangladesh Campus and, where applicable, International American University (IAU). The following behaviors are considered violations of the Student Code of Conduct and may result in disciplinary action in accordance with institutional policies.

1. Integrity & Honesty

Students are expected to act honestly in all academic and administrative matters. Acts of dishonesty include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing false or misleading information to the University or its representatives.
  • Forging, altering, or misusing academic records, certificates, identification documents, or official university documents.
  • Misrepresenting academic qualifications, attendance, or other official records.
  • Misusing institutional resources or funds.
  • Falsifying attendance records, work records, or other official documentation.
  • Violating the privacy or confidentiality of another student, faculty member, or staff member.

2. Academic Integrity

Academic honesty is fundamental to the values of IAU Bangladesh Campus. Any form of academic misconduct is strictly prohibited.

Cheating

Using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, devices, information, or assistance during examinations, quizzes, assignments, presentations, or other academic assessments. This includes copying from another student or collaborating without permission.

Fabrication

Creating, altering, or presenting false data, research findings, references, documents, or academic information in assignments, projects, reports, or official submissions.

Plagiarism

Presenting another person's ideas, words, research, images, or creative work as your own without proper acknowledgment or citation. This includes copying from books, journals, websites, artificial intelligence tools, or previously submitted work without appropriate permission or referencing.

Facilitating Academic Misconduct

Helping or attempting to help another person engage in academic dishonesty, including sharing answers during assessments, allowing others to copy assignments, completing work on behalf of another student, or distributing examination materials without authorization.

3. Respectful Conduct, Harassment & Bullying

IAU Bangladesh Campus, is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. Any behavior that threatens the dignity, safety, or well-being of another person is strictly prohibited.

The following behaviors may result in disciplinary action:

  • Physical assault, abuse, or any act that causes or threatens physical harm.
  • Verbal abuse, intimidation, coercion, threats, or aggressive behavior toward students, faculty, staff, or visitors.
  • Bullying, including repeated or severe conduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive learning environment.
  • Defamation through false verbal, written, or electronic statements that damage another person's reputation.
  • Harassment through in-person, written, electronic, or social media communication.
  • Damage to another person's property or interference with their academic or professional activities.

4. Sexual Harassment

IAU Bangladesh Campus has a zero-tolerance policy toward sexual harassment. All students, faculty, staff, and visitors have the right to study and work in an environment that is safe, respectful, and free from harassment.

Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature or behavior directed at an individual because of their sex or gender that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive educational or working environment.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Verbal: Sexual comments, inappropriate jokes, suggestive remarks, unwanted invitations, or sexually offensive language.
  • Non-Verbal: Displaying sexually explicit or offensive images, making inappropriate gestures, staring, or other unwelcome non-verbal conduct.
  • Physical: Unwanted touching, grabbing, hugging, blocking movement, or any other unwelcome physical contact of a sexual nature.
  • Online: Sending unwanted sexual messages, images, videos, or comments through email, messaging applications, social media, or other digital platforms.
